Using our home Dishnet receiver while on the road

Traveling with our home Dishnet 322 receiver.

Many RVers travel the country roughing it with a satellite TV receiver.   Although most of these travelers have a  dedicated receiver / antenna system while traveling, we simply pack up our home receiver, and hit the road. Why not, no ones at home watching the home satellite, so why not use the home receiver while on the road. Its already paid for, so no extra fees for a different reciever or any pay-as-you-go plan fees.

Sound deadening and heat shield

HoodSoundproof_1_600I read recently where someone had installed sound proofing and heat barrier material to their doghouse, and it made a considerable difference in both heat  and sound.

On the Mirada, I don’t recall objectionable sound or heat from the engine compartment.  The engine noise was there,  but not  loud.  As for heat,  we do the majority of our travel in winter and it seems like its always cold on the drivers side, yet hot on the passenger side.  I could put my hand on the engine compartment, it wasn’t hot, but seemed like it was warm. Rear View Camera

BackupCam_5_600UPDATE (May 2016)  I rewired the camera and did away with the wireless portion.

I installed a rear view camera on the Coachman Mirada.  Its more for keeping an eye on the TOAD rather than backing up or checking behind me.

I bought one of those inexpensive backup cameras on e-bay.  The only issue is, this camera is meant to be mounted under a cars license plate bracket.  I was hoping I could mount it directly to the back of the Mirada,  but the picture was upside down.  I took the camera apart hoping I could flip the camara inside the housing, but no luck.
